Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician is responsible to complete all general work orders related to resident units, communal areas and exterior maintenance. Also, the performance of all preventative maintenance according to schedule. May work occasionally with nearby sister co-ops to help with occasional emergencies. On-call duties are required with this position.

                                                    Could be assigned throughout the Metro Detroit area

Maintenance Responsibilities:

  • Perform work order requests efficiently and timely
  • Complete all inspections and repairs correctly and on schedule
  • Maintain maintenance room, keeping inventory of equipment and supplies
  • Be conscious of physical condition of the property and immediately correct unsafe conditions
  • Maintain accurate records regarding preventative maintenance, service requests ( received and completed)
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to ensure 24-hour; emergency maintenance service and response
  • Support the co-op in resident retention by performing duties with courteous excellence
  • Maintain the curb appeal of the community by: maintaining clean grounds, removing snow, salting slippery surfaces, maintaining landscaping and communal area needs


  • Previous experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and locks
  • High, mid/low rise apartment property maintenance experience preferred
  • Valid drivers license, clean driving record and proof of insurance required for on-call rotation duty
  • HVAC and or boiler certifications preferred
  • Boiler/Chiller experience preferred
  • Customer service skills and the ability to develop a good working rapport with staff and resident members
  • Ability to complete tasks accurately, efficiently and timely
  • Attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Availability on an as-needed basis for after hours and on-call emergency services
  • Have own basic tools - others will be provided
  • 2+ years experience
